Hi guys,

The other day in class we were looking back in time to the days when we were little. Describe an incident from your early childhood about any of the topics in the book.
Post it as a comment under this post so that everybody can read them.
As we said, try to keep it as short as possible.

Have fun!!

  1. I don´t remember my exact age, but one day when I was a child I stumbled on the entrance of my house. I even went rolling down the street. It didn´t hurt, but a neighbour of mine – who was really handsome, if you know what I mean – saw everything. It was a bit embarrassing, but now I think about that moment and I laugh until I cry.

  2. When I was five or six years old my mother, her friends and I were sailing on the San Juan river, we were going to a country house, when we arrived my mother’s friends decided to ride horses and to know the surroundings, one of those friends put me on a grey horse, I hadn’t ridden a horse before and I realized that it had been a bad idea, I got really nervous “Oh my God, this horse is very big! No, no, no, no it’s enormous!! What’s that smell? This horse needs a bath… Wow, is he looking at me? No, no, no, please don’t move!” I started to scream like a crazy, everyone was looking at me with interrogation marks in their faces; suddenly I fell off the horse, how that happened? The horse didn’t move an inch. Well, fear can be powerful, it can make you think that a horse is a quite big Rottweiler ready to bite you.

........sailing on the San Juan river. We were going to a country house.
      Need to correct as follows:

-I started to scream like a madwoman.
-Everybody looked at me in astonishment.
      -How did all that happen?

  3. I remember a incident when I was a child. It was Christmas Eve and I was at home with my parents. Suddenly, my mother told me that I should go with my parent to brush my teeth. While I was there, I heard my mother doing noise. I turned where my mother was and...there was a bicicle in the hearth! I saw them so happy and excited that I didn't told them that I knew that Santa Claus doesn't exist.
Some years later, I told my parents that I knew everything. First, they felt a little embarrased, but later, they began to laugh! That was a funny situation to me.

      - I heard my mother MAKING A noise.
-I didn't TELL them that I knew that Santa DIDN'T exist.

  4. When I was 4 or 5 years old, I was playing at kindergarten’s playground with a friend and my favorite toy, when we suddenly saw friend’s mother in the other part of the fence and we went to greet her and I showed to her the toy and immediately she stole my toy and run away. Then I told to the teacher what had happened but she didn’t believe me. I felt really frustrate with the situation.

  5. When I was a little girl I didn't speak - I was three years old and I hadn't said a word yet - which worried my parents terribly. There was no problem with me because it was proved that I wasn´t deaf-mute: I didn't speak just because I didn't want to do it. Every day in our way to school I would stay looking at the store window of the shop next to our house, because there was a little red ball I desired with all my heart. It was red and bright... So beautiful.... One day and another I would point to the little ball and look at my mother, whose answer was always the same: "If you want the ball, ask me for it, but you must say it". After two weeks in this way (and thanks to my mother's determination) I pronounced my first words. No wonder my mother's first reaction was astonishment and the second one buying the little ball for me. In that moment I felt the happiest child in the world and my sister and I went out to the street to play with the new toy. But unfortunately my new ball's life was very short because after ten minutes, it decided to go into a gutter and dissapear for ever.... Nobody in this world will ever feel more miserable than I felt in that moment....

  6. Wen I was six year old I went with my parents to a public swimming pool. In this time i was a very naughty boy. So when my parents didn't see to me I jumped inside the swiming pool, where the deep water. Surprisinly I wasn't so good swimmer as I thought and I began to sinnk inside the deep water. I remember perfectly while I drowned I tought “It seems this is the end, I can't belive that the life is so short”. Then, when I felt that I was dying, some anonimous person rescued me. A few minutes later I found some of my classmates swimming in the shallow water, so I begun to play with them.
The swimming pool was absolutely crowded and my parents have never known that. I didn't told anything. They never knew how close I was to death.

  7. I remember the day that my brother was born. It was a Saturday evening and I was at home, because I had chicken pox, playing a board game with my parents. Suddenly, my mother got up quickly and went to the toilet. When she came out, she told us that her water broke.
Immediately, my parents rang the family asking for someone who came into our house to take care of me, because I couldn’t go out due to my disease.
While we were waiting my aunt to come home I was very nervous: I thought my brother was going to born at home!!!

  8. From the age about 8 till I was 10, my parents forbad me to feed my neighbour´s cats, because i was attacked from behind by them due to I was feeding them when I noticed they had had five kittens. Cat father got angry and jumped over me. He bit me in my hand and scratched my back. I only remember I tried to cover my head and run as far as I could.

  9. I have to recognize that I don’t use to remember a lot of things I experienced when I was toddler. But, after knowing some research about early memories, I understand why I can remember this one with detail.
I was with my family in a fair. There was a festive atmosphere there and I was absolutely excited like children use to be. I remember myself staring at the range of fairground rides while amount of coloured lights were shinning around me. Jumping with joy, I held my dad’s hand. -Dad! Dad! I want to get on the roundabout!- I said while I was pulling him towards the ride. But my dad didn’t walk. All of a sudden, I heard people laughing so, I looked up and I was getting cold feet. The man whom hand I held wasn’t my father!
Although my family still laugh at this story, when I remember it I still feel the same loneliness I felt in this moment. This is the reason why this memory is which I remember best.

  10. the strength of the water!
I remember a story that happened when I was eight or nine years old. During these days it had been raining a lot so the river was full of water and the path that crosses the river was inundated although there was less than a half a meter of water. My friend and I had been talking about floods because we had seen on tv that people were pulled by water and the typical phrase “you don’t have…” was said. I rolled my trousers up , took my trainers out and started to cross. It was almost done but suddenly I fell, then I was lying and water was passing over me, fortunately and I don´t know how I managed to stood up and went out. We still laugh when remember the strength of the water!

      -During THOSE days....
      - the river was OVERFLOWING...and the path that crosses the river was FLOODED...
-we had seen on tv that people were SWEPT AWAY BY water...
      -I took my trainers OFF....
-I don't know how I managed to STAND UP and GO OUT..
-We still laugh when I remember....

  11. I remember the time when we went to France. My parents had signed a six month contract for a farm in Carpentras.
I was four years old when we were there, we lived in an old broken bus, next to the farm, and I have to say that I loved living in that bus. I spent much time playing as a driver.
From Mondays to Saturdays I used to go to a public school, and every day we had soups for lunch, I hated soups. Till one day, I escaped and returned three miles on foot to my home, my bus.
They had been looking for me all the afternoon. The "gendarmes" police, the teachers, and my parents found me at seven o'clock. Sleeping at the steering wheel.

  13. When I was little, my best friend and I used to play in the street for a while after school and before having lunch. But one day we found in the middle of the road a little hedgehog, we had never seen one before and despite the fact that it was dead, we thought that creature was so cute and interesting that we started to celebrate a funeral and bury it in a sand pile. Suddenly, we heard something, then we realized that it was my mother shouting looking for us. We had lost track of time and we had to go back to school immediately, consequently I was told off by my mom and punished by not to eat anything at all until I had finished the classes.
Nowadays I remember that anecdote as “The hedgehog” and I’ve never skipped lunch since then.

  14. When I was a child, amusement rides used to come to my village every year during the winter festivities. I remember that when I was three or four years old, I was crying because I wanted to ride a bumper car, so my father agreed to ride with me. I was very happy, when suddenly another car bumped into us, causing my chin to hit the steering wheel and it started to bleed. I was shocked at the amount of blood on my dress and I can still remember when the doctor gave me stitches. Can you imagine my mother’s reaction when we got home?
